Expiration: 4/1/08The purpose of this course
is to provide current information from experts in the areas of: impaired physician
treatment, alcohol withdrawal, health benefits of alcohol, and Alcoholics Anonymous.
This learning activity consists of a written interview in each of the above
areas followed by a test. 1 CME credit will be given after successful completion
of this test.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, physicians will be able to:
1.The special needs and challenges faced when treating a recovering impaired
professional.
2.Successful treatment of alcohol withdrawal
3.The potential health benefits of moderate alcohol consumption
4.AA and the treatment of alcoholism.

Needs Assessment:
This activity will address the ongoing alcohol competency educational needs
of practicing physicians. The material will include core competencies as well
as knowledge, assessment and treatment based competencies. Topics include alcohol
treatment, inherited alcoholism, end stage alcoholism, poly substance abuse.
Evaluation:
Successful completion of the posttest is required
